Why do we think we are not enough? Good enough? Thin enough? Pretty enough? Rich enough? Haven’t you had enough?
This is a habit that must be broken. We compare ourselves to others and assume we are not enough in the shadow of them. In doing so, we are not being conscious. We are robbing ourselves of the contentment that comes with knowing we are enough.
And make no mistake about it: you are enough. Just as you are. Right now.
Who you are is made up of so many elements: your heart, your soul, your thoughts, your choices. And, for the sake of everything that makes you who you are, you need to find a way to believe that you are enough. This concept of not getting what you want because you aren’t worth it is bullshit. No matter your “Imperfections” (recall from a previous post that when you think of your imperfections, you should say to yourself: i’mperfect!), you can get what you want. You just have to believe it.
I know you probably think I don’t understand, and that if I had all of the information then I would agree that you are not enough. You couldn’t be more wrong. I once was in a place of unworthiness. I felt that because I wasn’t a size 2 I couldn’t find the man of my dreams and build the life I wanted. Well, I was wrong!
But what changed? My perception, thoughts and consciousness around being enough.
Logically, it just didn’t make sense that because I wasn’t a size 2, I would never find an amazing man who would love me as I was, who believed I was worth loving. But, I had to believe it first.
Now I can say with pride that I am beautiful, funny, smart, loving, inclusive, outgoing, savvy and so many other wonderful things. Why wouldn’t someone want all of those things in a mate? When I began to look at it this way and really change my thoughts around it – BAM! I was introduced to my now husband – and I feel like the luckiest girl around!
So hear this, ladies: it is in your hands. Only you can change whatever you want to change. I am not saying it’s going to be easy, but I am saying that you can! There are millions of single men and women out there and they are just waiting for you to be ready! So go ahead – get ready, get set, and for the love of all that is beautiful (and that includes you), just GO!
Need a little extra help getting started? Try this exercise:
Every morning when you wake up, remind yourself of all of the things you love about yourself. Write them down if you can. Move through your day with those things front and center in your mind (and maybe even in your phone). If you love yourself – it’s infectious! Others will love you too!
