There’s no better way to usher in the fall than with a good Halloween film (or actually, several!) Luckily, there are lots of great classic Halloween movies to keep you watching all month long. Here are some from our must-watch list:
This one comes first on the list, because it’s pretty much mandatory viewing each October. A 1993 favorite featuring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy, Hocus Pocus is a Halloween classic the whole family can enjoy (and laugh through) together.
The 1984 Freddy Krueger flick is still worth watching 30+ years later, always guaranteeing some spooky dreams! (There have been several great sequels of this movie, too, including a relatively recent remake.)
Both the 1990 miniseries version and the more recent 2017 movie adaptation of this Stephen King book are worth a watch. (Already super scared of clowns? This might be one for you to skip…)
An oldie but a goodie, this 1958 scary movie chronicles five guests who spend the night in a spooky mansion as they try to win big money.
A Tim Burton favorite, this 1999 film features the legendary Headless Horseman wreaking havoc on the town of Sleepy Hollow.
Hannibal Lecter is one of the spookiest characters around, so this 1991 movie absolutely makes the list. Though not set during Halloween, the creep factor is there in a big way!
Talk about a serious throwback! Lighthearted and fun, this 1966 movie is so cute and nostalgic, we had to include it.
Michael Myers remains as scary as ever, no matter how many times you watch this 1978 classic scary flick. He escapes from a mental hospital on Halloween with the intent to kill…
Haunted houses are the perfect setting for goosebump-inducing Halloween movies, and this 1979 one follows the story of a newlywed couple who moves into a house where a mass murder was once committed. Scariness ensues!
Another Tim Burton favorite, this 1993 stop-motion animated classic is visually stunning, family-friendly and a great way to usher in the holiday season!
