London Gone Healthy
[endimages]Traveling is always exciting, but it can be daunting for those of us who make health a daily priority. You want to enjoy yourself, but you don’t want to return home feeling like you overindulged and under-exercised.
On a recent trip to London, our Chief Creative Officer, Jodi Guber Brufsky, decided to see if she could find the right balance of enjoying herself and maintaining a healthy lifestyle abroad. Since eating healthy is at the top of her list, she explored London’s healthiest snacks, meals and markets. Below are some of her favorites.
Set up like an organic market, Roots & Bulbs offers great juices and yummy eats! Everything from breakfast to lunch and sweets. And, with two locations, it’s easy to find the one nearest you and stop by for some good nourishment.
Raw Press’ location is easy to pass by since it is hidden downstairs, but it’s definitely worth finding! This newer, super healthy spot is not to be missed for a delicious juice on the go or a quick mini-meal.
Lab organic is full of great juices, as well as delicious snacks to take with you! Plus, the colorful decor and layout is visually appealing – you’ll want to try everything.
Hidden in a little courtyard upstairs is a gem called Wild Food Cafe. It’s filled with fresh, healthy food that is simply… yum! The courtyard setting upholds the cafe’s healthy vibe with surrounding destinations of equal fabulousness, including a walk in back rub (who can’t use a relaxing pick me up!)
THE DETOX KITCHEN
First of all, we absolutely love The Detox Kitchen’s tagline – “where healthy meets delicious.” Secondly, the tagline is definitely true! Enjoy any meal of the day in their deli or have it delivered to your home while you snuggle up and read their great blog.
Food for Thought is full of made-fresh-daily offerings for everyone. The restaurant is not strictly raw or vegan, but it’s made from local, fresh organic ingredients. You can order your food to go upstairs or sit and dine downstairs.
If you love visiting the charming Notting Hill area when in London, Nama Foods is right in the heart of it! The restaurant’s artisan raw foods are definitely worth the visit.
Tanya’s is another raw hot spot worth trying. Their presentations are very high-end, the food is impeccable and the atmosphere is fabulous.
MARKETS & MORE
With many locations in London, this market is for those of you who insist on shopping organic and healthy, but won’t compromise on taste. While Natural Kitchen has lots of juices, they are more of the Mrs. Gooch’s (remember when Whole Foods was a sweet little market) of London.
